Trans Mountain is marking Dig Safe Month with a Spotlight on Safety series and its first interview is with Jerry from A&G Fencing in the Fraser Valley, who talks about his experiences with BC 1 Call.

“We understand the importance of safe digging and do our due diligence to place locate requests with BC 1 Call. Larry, the Trans Mountain inspector for our area, is always only a phone call away. I can call him right from the site. We usually call beforehand and get our ducks in a row before we start a project. We do this on every job,” Jerry said.

Bumper stickers are not only a great way to maintain awareness on a site, they’re also BC 1 Call’s most popular “swag” at trade shows and other events. Jerry highlighted in the article how his company uses them to stay vigilant.

“We put stickers on all our trucks to remind our workers to call or click before digging. They [employees] would already have the permit in hand with the paperwork when they come to the job, so they are highly aware of what’s happening on the site,” he said.

Jerry added before digging its important to be aware what’s around above ground, such as signs a pipeline is nearby and to have all permits ready and everything lined up pre-project.

“You want to have everything ready to roll without delay,” he said.
