Starting August 11, 2026, BRAG will begin a review and update of the Aligned Business Rules for the Use of Western Canadian One Call Services. A public review period is now open, and we invite you to participate by sharing your input and contributing your expertise to the conversation.

The Aligned Business Rules for the Use of Western Canadian One Call Services document provides “One System / One Approach” for locate notification centres in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. The Aligned Business Rules established in July 2017 contribute to operational efficiency, reduction of errors, opportunities for economies of scale in advertising, awareness messaging, training, and shared technology across all four western provinces. Beginning August 11, 2026, BRAG will review the Aligned Business Rules for the Use of Western Canadian One Call Services document and update it to reflect industry changes, current best practices, new technologies, and operational efficiencies. New / updated business rules will be determined by the end of October, and the updated document will be released in November 2026. 

A public review period is now open, and we invite you to submit proposed changes to the current business rules. To submit a request, fill out the BYDP TR Form with the details of your proposal and send it to info@beforeyoudigpartners.com. Forms submitted prior to August 7, 2026, will be considered by BRAG at the first review meeting on August 11.

 

The Business Rule Alignment Group (BRAG) consists of representatives from various stakeholder groups across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Participants include provincial industry representatives from locate contractors, CCGA regional partners, locate notification centre operations and provincial Member Resource Committees.

BRAG members make decisions through consensus – a collaborative process where participants work together to shape a proposal until it achieves broad acceptance.
