Improvements to the BC 1 Call locate request software are planned to launch in February 2026.

One of the features included in the update is a change to the ticket number format. This change may affect the way you organize and track your locate request tickets. Currently, every locate request is assigned an 11-digit ticket number. After the system updates are implemented, each 11-digit ticket number will be followed by a 3-digit revision number.

The initial locate ticket will be labeled as revision 000, indicating there have been no changes to the locate request information. Whenever an excavator edits or revises a ticket, the 3-digit revision number will incrementally increase with each new version of the ticket.

Example:

 Original ticket  20261212345-000
 Edit to excavation method  20261212345-001
 Relocate  20261212345-002
 Edit to onsite contact  20261212345-003

Please note: edits or changes to the worksite location need to be submitted as a new ticket.

Ticket Actions that Increase the Revision Number

After submitting a ticket, excavators can use the Actions dropdown menu to cancel the request, edit ticket information, request a relocate, etc.

All actions that do not affect the work location result in an increase to the revision number. Cancel, Relocate, and Edit (for information not related to worksite location) will keep the same 11-digit ticket number with each version of the ticket.

IMPORTANT: If you need to edit the map of the work area or the address fields on a ticket, the ticket will need to be cancelled and resubmitted under a new ticket number.

TIP: After cancelling the ticket, use the Copy function to copy all information into a new ticket, then edit the map and/or address fields before submitting the ticket.

Benefits of Revision Numbers

Keeping the 11-digit ticket number the same throughout the lifespan of the job allows for easier ticket tracking by all parties. Regardless of revision number, searching by the 11-digit ticket number in account history will bring up the most recent version of the ticket, as well as all historical versions.
