1. SMS Opt-In
Excavators can opt-in to receive text messages from participating facility owners and locators. SMS communication is optional for both excavators and responding parties. Not all facility owners and locators will respond via text message.
TO OPT-IN: Go to your User Profile to change your preferences. In the Mobile Number field, enter the cell phone number where you would like to receive text messages. Under this field, move the slider to YES, indicating you would like to receive text messages from utility members.
PLEASE NOTE: All existing accounts will default to NO until you change your preferences.

2. Job End Date
When requesting a locate, excavators can provide the date the job is planned to be completed. Providing a job end date is especially beneficial for projects that continue over a long period of time. Facility owners and locators will know which sites remain active within the lifespan of the locate and can provide safety information accordingly.

3. Ticket Action Reason
Whenever a locate request ticket is edited, the excavator is prompted to enter the reason for the edit. This reason is currently displayed within the Remarks field of the ticket. After system updates are implemented, the edit reason will be added to a separate field called Ticket Action Reason.
Displaying the reason in a separate field allows for quick reference to the reason a ticket was edited. You will no longer need to search through the Remarks to find the edit reason. It also frees up space in the Remarks field for important ticket details, instead of using the limited characters with ticket edit notes.
PLEASE NOTE: This change does not affect the locate request process. Excavators will edit tickets the same way they do currently. The new field will be visible on the outbound ticket form.
