VANCOUVER, B.C. (September 8, 2026) — BC 1 Call announces the appointment of Steve Mark to Director of Strategic Operations and Innovation. This newly created and evolving leadership role will serve as a strategic second-in-command focused on operational strategy, technology planning, stakeholder collaboration, and long-term organizational growth. Steve Mark will be critical to evaluating future technology platforms and partnerships, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and helping shape innovative solutions that improve underground infrastructure coordination across the province.

Steve joins BC 1 Call after an impactful 16-year tenure with the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICI Society), where he provided strategic and operational leadership for a province-wide organization that supports geospatial data sharing and collaboration. As the Director of Operations, he was instrumental in strengthening data integration, enhancing digital infrastructure tools, and facilitating seamless spatial information exchange among local governments, First Nations, utilities, provincial ministries, and other public-sector stakeholders across British Columbia.

As the province’s centralized notification center for underground infrastructure protection, BC 1 Call’s ongoing optimization is critical. Steve Mark’s move to BC 1 Call brings a wealth of hands-on technical domain expertise and deeply established relationships across B.C.’s spatial data community. His strong record of bringing organizations together around shared infrastructure information and practical solutions will further strengthen BC 1 Call’s organization plans for its next stage of development.

“Steve’s appointment is an important investment in BC 1 Call’s capacity to serve a growing and increasingly complex province,” said Donna Grant, President of BC 1 Call. “To stay in front of technological developments and service expectations, we must proactively identify and seize opportunities to better serve the province. Steve brings an exceptional combination of operational leadership, technical knowledge, and trusted relationships across British Columbia to support that goal. His experience will deepen the value we deliver to our members, service users, and the province.”

Steve Mark stated, “I’m excited to join the BC 1 Call team and bring the experience and relationships I’ve built over 16 years with the ICI Society. I look forward to applying my expertise in geospatial data, relationship building, collaboration, and strategic operations to help advance BC 1 Call’s important work in damage prevention, public safety, and the protection of British Columbia’s critical infrastructure.”
